I wished to share with you a little bit about why we created our summertime reading program.
For me, it was because of my students.
Over the years of mentor in my private knowing center, parents would bring their kids to me that lagged in reading and spelling.

In some cases they were just a bit behind, often they were method behind, and in some cases they were at grade level and just wanted to progress faster.
Sometimes this was due to the fact that the students had discovering problems like dyslexia and ADHD. Other times, this was simply due to the fact that the instructors did not teach all of the particular skills required to check out.
There is a science-proven, step-by-step way that all kids can be successful with reading. However, regrettably, teachers themselves typically are not taught how to teach kids in this way.

The problem was that I was only able to see them for an hour at a time and only twice a week.
How could I get these students' abilities up while not simply providing a band-aid service?
Conventional tutors often simply deal with research. This does not deal with the root cause of students' difficulties and does not in fact get their abilities up.
So, I went to the research and what I gained from my mentors in my early years of mentor.
I found that short activities often produce better results than long labored work.
I found that teaching in a methodical and structured way to target each area of reading and spelling worked.

I found that brief daily fluency practice assists all trainees read much faster, more precisely, and naturally improves their comprehension abilities.

It wasn't long prior to my students and parents started seeing remarkable results. Trainees that lagged by 1-2 years often got up to grade level in 2-4 months.
Teachers started to ask what I was finishing with these kids. Moms and dads wished to know what the magic sauce was.
I knew I had to make my program available to more students no matter where they live. I required to make the program in a manner that moms and dads can do it with their kids on their schedule in the house.

The program does take some involvement from a moms and dad for grades K-2, however for grades 3-8, the majority of kids can do most activities in the program by themselves.
