I wanted to show you a little bit about why we produced our summertime checking out program.
For me, it was because of my trainees.
Over the years of mentor in my private knowing center, parents would bring their children to me that lagged in reading and spelling.

In some cases they were simply a bit behind, sometimes they were method behind, and in some cases they were at grade level and just wanted to progress faster.
In some cases this was because the trainees had finding out difficulties like dyslexia and ADHD. Other times, this was merely since the instructors did not teach all of the specific abilities needed to read.
There is a science-proven, step-by-step way that all kids can prosper with reading. Unfortunately, instructors themselves often are not taught how to teach kids in this way.

The issue was that I was only able to see them for an hour at a time and just twice a week.
How could I get these trainees' abilities up while not just offering a band-aid solution?
Conventional tutors frequently simply deal with research. This does not deal with the root cause of trainees' troubles and does not in fact get their skills up.
So, I went to the research and what I gained from my mentors in my early years of teaching.
I discovered that short activities often produce better results than long labored work.
I discovered that mentor in a systematic and structured way to target each location of reading and spelling worked.

I found that brief everyday fluency practice assists all students read quicker, more accurately, and inherently improves their understanding skills.
I found that using graphic organizers assists trainees discover the main point and details, series events, and arrange their ideas to enhance their understanding. Trainees might finally understand and picture what they read.
I discovered that many words in English follow 8 particular spelling patterns and when you learn the patterns, spelling ends up being simpler and spelling finally makes sense.
I found that brain-body activities improve neuroplasticity and translate to making learning much easier in all locations.

I discovered that mentor through our senses (hearing, seeing, and doing) improved their reading and spelling skills faster. It did not matter if they had learning difficulties or if they were just merely looking to advance much faster.
I create a program of these findings into short 5-20 minute everyday activities that I could do with my students.
It wasn't long before my students and moms and dads began seeing tremendous outcomes. Trainees that were behind by 1-2 years frequently got up to grade level in 2-4 months.
Educators began to ask what I was doing with these kids. Moms and dads wanted to know what the magic sauce was.
I understood I had to make my program available to more trainees no matter where they live. I needed to make the program in a way that parents can do it with their kids on their schedule in the house.
This is why I established the summer season reading program.

The program does take some participation from a moms and dad for grades K-2, but for grades 3-8, most kids can do most activities in the program on their own.
